About Jason Wilk
For the previous decade, I worked in a retail bank as a personal banker and then as a branch manager. I left and did a career change at the age of 35 and to sum it up in one sentence: I was done with the boredom and monotony of sitting in a bank for eight hours a day, with very little actual work to do. I got into the mortgage industry because most adults want to own a home and it is a logical product that I am “selling.” I enjoy working with people and I enjoy making my own schedule. I enjoy only having to work, when actual work needs to be done. I don’t have any restrictions in my personal life that will prevent me from doing any meaningful work-related activities. I never again want to have to play the “corporate game.”
I have just entered my third year as a licensed loan officer. To say it was a learning experience is an understatement. Thankfully I had/have a mentor to help me along the way and I am adamant on never returning to the corporate/banking world. Through simple tenacity and trial/error, I am learning the mortgage industry as well as activities/strategies that are more effective than others. I am building my first wave of referral partners and truly believe that I will experience nothing but growth in my future. I am a die-hard Jersey Shore saltwater fisherman and football fan. I also enjoy skiing during my down time the winter months.
